Pink Caravan announces opening of rider's registration #TPCUAE

Pink Caravan Ride is an annual event, which sees horses, riders, ambassadors and royalty
take to the streets of the UAE, to promote breast cancer awareness.

A registration form has been created online at http://www.pinkcaravan.ae/signup/become-rider to encourage the public to sign up to ride one of the 15 trained Pink Caravan horses, on their pan-UAEtrek which will be taking place from the 2nd to the 12th of February.

An initiative of the Friends of Cancer Patients charity (FoCP), the Pink Caravan Ride is an annual event, which sees horses, riders, ambassadors and royalty take to the streets of the UAE, to promote breast cancer awareness.

2011 and 2012's Pink Caravan Ride accomplished over 600 kms across the seven Emirates, with over 250 riders and 200 volunteers helping to ensure its success. Riders for the 2013 Pink Caravan Ride can now register online to choose their preference in terms of route, distance and location, as the average daily ride is between 30 and 40Kms per day. The starting age group for potential riders is 16 years old, unless an experienced junior rider. There is also a section of the ride for female riders who wish to remain out of the media's attention.

Alongside the Pink Caravan Ride, hospitals and health clinics also set up free of charge clinical screening services to encourage men and women to get checked for breast cancer, as the first step towards a cure is awareness and self-examination. This early detection campaign was launched in 2011 under the patronage of HH Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah and under the directives of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, Founder and Patron of the Friends of Cancer Patients Charitable Organization (FoCP).

Speaking on the launch of the registration, H.E Ameera BinKaram, President of the Board Of Trustees and a founding member of the Friends of Cancer Patients charity (FoCP), said, "We are delighted to open registration to potential volunteer riders online. In the last ride we saw an increasing number of internationally based residents apply to take part and it is exciting to see that the Pink Caravan message is promoting breast cancer awareness further abroad. We hope to surpass the previous years participation levels with increased medical centres offering their doctors, nurses, and locations to further encourage men and women to get screened."
